Porthcawl Lifeguards Club (PLGC) is situated at the end of Rhych Point, Porthcawl, South Wales. Our beautiful clubhouse stands on the headland overlooking both Coney Beach (aka Sandy Bay) & Trecco Bay and we are one of the longest established surf life-saving clubs in the UK. The club works alongside professional lifeguards throughout the summer, ensuring the safety of visitors and the community.
We are a registered charity funded by voluntary contributions and affiliated to the Surf Life Saving Association of Wales. We are a family-oriented club teaching surf life saving and beach skills for children aged 7 and upwards. Our aim is to provide education and training in surf lifesaving skills and first aid procedures, to help save life and prevent drowning. Our voluntary patrols and training of paid lifeguards provide vigilance and service for both Sandy Bay and Trecco Bay.
The club attends and hosts events with SLSA Wales. The club is also affiliated to the Royal Lifesaving Society RLSS(UK). Beyond lifesaving, the club has adopted Sandy Bay under the Marine Conservation Scheme and take part in regularly Beach Cleans with the support of Keep Wales Tidy.
